Some people are made for trucking. Its just something that you will understand once you get going in the industry. People who are self starters, independent, strong, and dependable are built for trucking. Certain people are really a great fit for trucking. I have mentioned this to a few of my family members who never tried it. They are some stubborn people who don’t like to be bothered and don’t do well with micro managers. However, for every person born to drive a truck there’s at least one who never ever try to be a trucker. Here’s how you know you should never get a truck license:
Needy people should never try to drive a truck. Are you someone who just needs people? Have you ever been described by family as needy? In order to be successful in trucking you need to be in independent. You will occasionally find yourself in situations where you’ll need to be able to think things through for yourself if you are needy then you won’t know what to do when your your cell phone signal dies. Did you know some places aren’t on the GPS yet? This is really how it is. This is a deal breaker for a needy person.
Whiny people should never attempt to drive a truck. Do us a favor and just don’t even try to drive a truck if you are the whiny type. Nothing is more annoying than a whinny trucker. Complaining about this and that and on and on its sad. The truth is the world is what you make of it. Make it a place where you thrive and that’s what it will be.
Weak people should never get into trucking. This is not a job for the very soft and weak men and women. You don’t have to be some brute of a women or some body builder dude. You just need to know that you are strong and you can use leverage to wind up a trailer landing gear or open a door. Its a mind set and a heath thing. You need to be in decent shape to move around the truck and fasten strap loads down at times when needed.
Impatient people should never get into trucking. If you have patience issues do everyone a favor and stay away from a semi truck. People like this inevitably start rushing down the road and this is dangerous. The aggressive truck drivers are the cause of horrible accidents. The cause of their agression is a lack of patience. I always tell people the only thing to be in a rush to do is be safe.
Stupid people should never get into truck driving. Who am I talking about when I say stupid people? I mean the types who do amazingly dangerous stunts like the movie jackass and think its funny. These people usually underestimate the power of a commercial truck and end up causing accidents with this mentality. Instead of a conservative cautious approach this type of person is basically like, “screw it, ha ha ha.” Like they say its funny until someone gets hurt. Unfortunately the stupid people who cause accidents are always the ones who get hurt.
