…And grand kids are better than regular kids?

Have you ever heard this saying?  Why do you think people say this?

I look at things much more differently as I get older. Have you ever noticed how little kids behave when they are around their grandparents?  Seems like grandparents are content on spoiling their children rotten instead of worrying about the strict discipline routine they forced on their children.  Maybe its guilt maybe they just want a second chance.

I probably received several billion woopings in my career from my mom, I only got one from my grandmother.  How was your experience?  Why did I behave so much better around my grandmother?  Why was my grandmother so lenient on me?  Let my mom tell it she was more strict on her generation.  I always had the impression that my grandmother was defending me.

Trucking has always been a great meeting place of the generations.  Its not rare to see three generations of drivers in business for the family’s sake. I think it is very cool and proves that you can and should do business with family. Yeah you know which ones to avoid but that’s the same as with customers.  You will learn which shippers don’t pay or which trucking companies are full of crap so that just goes with the territory.

Most people don’t mention a topic like this, the most you ever hear is how much of a pain in the butt the youth of today are.  I can still remember people saying that about my generation. I used to say to “adults” how bad are we when we are being raised by you? It didn’t make sense to me then and it still confuses me but people blame the youth instead of realizing we are making them be what they become.  When I go to the beach I sometimes see little kids randomly playing with each other until their parents come over and remind them of how things go.  What can we learn from the youth?
